About

Bio
Jasmin Gadema is recent DMU student, currently working out of a home studio based in Leicester. She is drawn to creating a visual experience, by using soft, organic forms and bold, vivid colours. Currently, she’s works within the heart of Leicester at the LCB Depot, in Leicester’s cultural quarters. She has exhibited her work within local galleries and collaborated with local independent shops.
Statement
Jasmin’s practice investigates the meeting of form, colour and psychological effect. Recently she pivoted from two-dimensional abstract painting to three-dimensional, organic biomorphic sculpture. Jasmin’s development into freestanding, abstract structures has led her into exploring the visual tension created between soft, organic forms and vivid, super glossy colour palettes. Aiming to create a visceral sensory experience, her work prompts feelings of optimism, calmness and joy.
Within Jasmin’s work she has always had an interest in creating a visual experience. Inviting viewers to scrap systemic pressure and engage with a direct experience. Embracing the feelings of cheerful and liveliness that my work evokes. Particularly within sculpture, she’s interested in how the audience responds/interacts with their surroundings and the work. Aswell as, exploring and utilising vibrant colours and organic, abstract forms as tool to form an experience, which boosts the viewers mood.
